The mission of the Solid Ground Foundation is to maximize the potential of Sri Lankan children with learning difficulties so they and their families can lead productive and fulfilled lives. SGF will initially launch the project in Sri Lanka and when feasible grow beyond Sri Lanka to other developing countries.

In Sri Lanka, many mentally challenged children are neglected by their parents and community. Even worse, parents often view a handicapped child as a source of embarrassment to be kept hidden from the public. For this reason, handicap children in Sri Lanka lack the unique attention they require, and as a result, have little hope to someday become a productive active member of society.

Were such children provided access to programs, resources, and skills available in America, these children could grow up to support themselves and avoid a life of nothing more than an unwanted burden on their parents or siblings once their parents are no longer able to provide care.
